We are pleased to announce the publication of a new open-access scientific paper contributing to the dissemination of results relevant to the IDERPLANE research activities.
The paper, entitled “Threshold and propagation of defects under RCF: an experimental approach”, is now available on ScienceDirect under a Creative Commons license.
This publication presents an experimental and numerical investigation of defect threshold and crack propagation under rolling contact fatigue (RCF) conditions, combining multiaxial fatigue testing, bidisc testing, high-resolution tomography, and finite element modelling. The results highlight the dominant role of Mode II shear-driven crack growth and support a predictive methodology for defect tolerance analysis.
